The Chevrolet Silverado EV is a bold new chapter in America’s best-selling vehicle. Unlike traditional gas-powered trucks, the Chevy Silverado EV is designed without drivetrain components, so storage and flexibility are the main focus.

All Silverado EV trims feature configurable storage space in the front row, and the center console can be customized to fit your needs. These trucks come in crew cab body styles and have a full-size back seat.

Despite its resemblance to traditional gas-powered trucks, the Silverado EV is a modern, highly-efficient vehicle that will save you on fuel costs.

Performance

The Silverado Electric Vehicle (EV) is compared to the Ford F-150 Lightning and rival EV trucks from Rivian and Tesla Motors. It has more than 400 miles range, 4WD (4WD) on all variants, and DC fast-charging capability.

The RST will have an advanced technology package that boosts the output to 780 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque. The RST will also feature a multi-flex tailgate, making loading the 5-foot-eleven-inch cargo bed much easier.

The truck also offers hands-free driving, which is useful if they’re towing a trailer. It will also have Super Cruise drive assistance technology, making it easy to take the wheel without needing a brake.

Chevrolet claims that the Silverado EV can increase its range up to 100 miles by using DC fast charging in just 10 minutes.

Design And Features

The Silverado Electric has the upright appearance of a full-size pickup truck. The front end of the Silverado EV has been designed to direct airflow around its sides to improve aerodynamics, and ultimately improve performance and range.

In addition to a new body, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV will feature a multi-flex tailgate, which opens 60 degrees and serves as a step.

The bed measures 5.9 feet long in its normal configuration and can be extended up to 10 feet, 10 inches with an optional step. A front trunk can hold three large suitcases.

This vehicle also has a red, white, and blue color scheme, a column-mounted shifter, and plenty of USB outlets. With a price tag like that, the Chevy Silverado EV could be available in just two years.

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado EV will come in two trim levels: the base WT (work truck) and the fully loaded RST (regular truck).

The WT will feature black plastic exterior trim and simple finishes, and the RST trim will have a 14-inch head-up display and a 17-inch infotainment screen. Both the WT and the RST trims will feature a Multi-Flex tailgate for easy loading.

The cabin of the new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV features the latest technology. The 17-inch diagonal freeform touchscreen provides access to the built-in Google Assistant, allowing drivers to use their phones to navigate.

However, owners will have access to the new Ultium Charge 360 system, simplifying the charging process. GM claims there are more than 100,000 public charging stations for the EV in the U.S. and Canada.

The first-generation Chevy Silverado EV will be in the wild sometime in 2024. Besides a flat-bottom steering wheel, the EV will be equipped with Chevy Safety Assist.

This advanced technology will allow the driver to avoid collisions and maintain a safe distance while driving. High-resolution cameras will also be available to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings.

Towing Capacity

The towing and payload capabilities are also strong. The RST can tow up to 8,000 pounds and carry up to 1,300 pounds of cargo. During the launch, there will be no EV models with 20,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Price of 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

The Chevy Silverado EV will be available for sale by 2024 and will compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning for electric vehicle sales. The starting price for the RST First Edition will start at $105,000, and the base WT will be priced at $39,900.

Those prices do not include destination charges, which add another $1695 to the cost. Chevrolet will likely target business customers and governments with its WT model, and it will lose some of the more luxurious features found in other Chevy models.

Buying one early ensures you’ll be able to take advantage of the first production run of the EV. Chevrolet expects to release more details about the new model in the next several months.

Interested buyers should sign up for a free auto loan from a Chevy finance center to reserve the electric Silverado model.
