BMW has unveiled the BMW i4 Electric Car in India. It was launched at the India Art Fair held in New Delhi. The automaker has also stated that the brand new i4 will go on sale in India in May 2022.
The i4 will be the second BMW brand electric car that will be launched in India following the iX and was unveiled in the last year of Bavarian automaker’s electric onslaught for customers in the Indian market.
In addition to it being the iX and the i4, BMW India Group has also unveiled its MINI Cooper SE earlier this year in India. The brand new i4 is the first electric vehicle to debut in the premium segment, apart from other electric SUVs available.
The five-door model is equipped with the latest generation of BMW eDrive technology that has a sporty and impressive performance with five spacious full-sized seats, that’s why it’s a perfect vehicle for any kind of trip.

BMW i4 Exterior
The BMW i4 is based on the latest generation 4 Series and comes with the same style.
The style has been updated by incorporating the EV-specific kidney grille, blue accents, LED headlamps and optional alloy wheels that are EV-specific for improved aerodynamics.
The coupe-style design is still the same topline that is characteristic, and the distinctive coupe roofline of the 4 Series gives the model its unique look.
BMW i4 Interior
The cabin is clad in eco-friendly materials. BMW has outfitted the all-electric vehicle with a curving integrated display that can accommodate a 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control screens that share a frameless bezel and appear to be a single unit.
The infotainment software runs iDrive 8 and supports upgrade through the internet.

The blue highlights specific to electric vehicles are also visible inside the cabin. It also has the ventilated and heated seats as well as ambient lighting as well as it also has a Harman Kardon sound system.
Company has also fitted the vehicle with driver assistance systems and ADAS technology, which includes front collision warning and lane departure warning and an additional park assist.

BMW i4 Variants:
The BMW will initially offer one variant, the eDrive 40 (RWD) variant, in India and could later follow up to M50 (AWD).
BMW i4 Motor:
The BMW sedan has two different electric power options. This base eDrive 40 model has only one electric motor (344PS/430Nm) that only drives the rear wheels. And the most powerful M50 trim features two electric motors (551PS/795Nm), which puts energy to all four wheels.
BMW i4 Range, Battery:
Both versions come with the 83.9kWh battery pack, which includes the WLTP approved range of 590km for eDrive 40 and 521km for the M50.
BMW i4 Charging:
This electric car is able to handle up to 200kW DC rapid charging, which will charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
The i4 can also be charged with a Level 2 wall box home charger using 11 kW AC power. This will charge the battery to 100 percent in 8 hours.

The electric vehicle will compete with Tesla Model 3.

BMW i4 electric vehicle is scheduled to launch on the 26th of May, 2022.
The i4 is the fifth generations of electric vehicle technology developed by BMW, the Bavarian manufacturer. BMW’s i4 will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
This will give the electric vehicle a huge advantage due to BMW’s famous driving characteristics available on the electric version.
