2023 Toyota bZ4X All-Electric Crossover Review, Price

Toyota bz4x

The Toyota bZ4X is an all-electric crossover that utilizes an electric powertrain. If you are considering a purchase of a new crossover SUV, consider the Toyota bZ4X.

The company plans to make 15 zero-emission vehicles by 2025, with seven of those vehicles being from its sub-brand, BZ. Its 196-horsepower engine is up to date for 2023, and its blend of traditional and modern design touches is pleasing to the eye.

The bZ4X will be the first mass-produced electric vehicle, directly competing with a host of mainstream EVs, including the Kia EV6, Ford Mustang Mach E, and Volkswagen ID.4.

Design

The Toyota bZ4X will offer a new design and high-tech safety features. The new bZ4X will also have a more aerodynamic body design, making it one of the most fuel-efficient 2023 vehicles. The Technology package will add convenience to the driver’s life.

The design of the exterior of the brand new Toyota bZ4X is distinctive but appealing. Its piano black center portion houses the ADAS cameras. The front end of the bZ4X is clean, up until the lower bumper, where the working air vents for cooling the batteries will be visible.

The interior of the bZ4X is sleek, but it falls short in terms of range. Many competitors in the segment offer 300-plus miles on a single charge, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Tesla Model Y. The cabin of the bZ4X is fun but not very exciting. It reminds me of the Toyota Highlander and RAV4.

Its cabin lacks an open space pass-through, but it does have enough room for a medium-sized handbag. It also lacks overly complex electronic door handles and slider controls.

While the steering lacks feedback at higher speeds, the car remains nimble and prompt while taking corners. The car’s softer suspension and large battery pack also aid the rider’s handling. It also holds its weight and does not ride too low.

Both trims come with similar standard features, but the Limited trim has a second electric motor to facilitate all-wheel drive. The Limited trim adds heated rear seats and a 9-speaker JBL sound system to its list of amenities. It also has a premium paint job.

Power & Performance

The bZ4X will be available in five trims, with two base models and a unique edition model that adds extra equipment. This electric vehicle will come in both front-wheel drive (201 horsepower) and all-wheel-drive (215 horsepower) versions.

It is expected to begin sales in California this month and other states that have adopted California’s strict emissions standards. Toyota plans to make the Toyota bZ4X available nationwide by late 2023.

The front-wheel-drive version of the car features one electric motor that develops 201 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds, which is comparable to Volkswagen ID.4.

The new Toyota bZ4X 201 horsepower is a fully electric vehicle that rides on a newly developed platform known as e-TNGA. The Toyota bZ4X features a single battery pack with 71.4 kilowatt-hours.

Pricing for the Toyota bZ4X varies based on trim level. The base trim is available in two versions: the XLE and the Limited. The Limited trim includes an wireless charging pad in the center console of the vehicle.

The bZ4X estimates a 252-mile range with a full charge, and the XLE trim adds a dual-motor option to reduce the range to 228 miles. This vehicle can also reach speeds of up to 215 mph. With all these features, the bZ4X is sure to impress.

On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive version comes with two electric motors that produce 215 horsepower as well as 248 lb-ft of torque. Those specs are impressive, considering that the all-wheel-drive variant will be the largest in the Toyota lineup.

Price

The XLE trim of the new 2023 Toyota bZ4X starts at $42,000, while the Limited trim begins at $46,700.
