BMW, a German luxury car manufacturer, celebrates the 50th anniversary its performance division, BMW M. The company has also revived the CSL name, almost two decades after it was last used. Globally, the all-new 2023 BMW M4 CSL has revealed.

The 2023 BMW M4 CSL is the successor to the popular M4 coupe. Its engine and drivetrain remain unchanged, but a few changes have been made to the interior. A center console made from CRFP is now lighter, saving 9 pounds.

The iDrive infotainment controller still has buttons, but BMW has covered the center armrest in leather. The center armrest also now features a wireless phone charger. The three-spoke steering wheel is still in use, but the shift paddles are made of carbon fiber.

It will cost $140,895 at launch and will be available in limited numbers. Here are the details on the performance of this new model. Read on to learn more about the 2023 BMW M4 CSL.

Power To Weight Ratio

The 2023 BMW M4 CSL is a special edition version of the M4 that will be limited to only 1000 vehicles. This supercar is based on the M4 Competition model and features a redesigned twin-turbo 3.0-litre I-6 engine with 240 pounds of weight savings.

Because of these modifications, the M4 CSL has a high power-to-weight ratio. The new M4 CSL features a power-to-weight ratio of 543. At 3640 pounds, it is the lightest production BMW ever to lap the Nordschleife. It is a very capable sports car with a price tag of $140,895.

Weight Reduction

The BMW M4 CSL will weigh around 240 pounds less than its predecessor, the M4 Competition, and this weight reduction is a result of various chassis alterations.

The car also features lightweight titanium exhaust systems, carbon-fibre hood and roof panels, and forged chassis components. Additionally, the car’s kidney grille has been simplified, and carbon-fiber ducts and pipes run through the interior trim to reduce weight further.

Inside, the M4 CSL will be fitted with a carbon fiber center console and one-piece adjustable carbon seats. The CRFP-based center console will save nine pounds of weight, while the iDrive system’s controls will still be dominated by traditional buttons.

The leather-covered center armrest will house a wireless smartphone charger. The three-spoke steering wheel remains unchanged but has carbon fiber shift paddles.

For those interested in performance, the 2023 BMW M4 CSL will be an impressive choice. Its performance already sets the fastest lap time for a production BMW model on the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.

The M4 CSL has the same inline-six engine as the Competition, with the only difference being the boost pressure. The turbo boost has increased 24 percent, from 24.7 psi to 30.5 psi.

The engine also received an upgraded dual-circuit cooling system to accommodate the added power. The result is 543 horsepower and a top speed of 191 mph. While the M4 Competition Turbo boost clocked in at 560 horsepower, the 2023 BMW M4 CSL’s power is limited to 561 hp.

Interior Upgrades

While the exterior of the 2023 BMW M4 CSL is similar to the current model, the interior is quite different. Instead of a giant touchscreen or an iDrive 8 setup, the interior is centered around driving performance.

The M badge, CSL badge, and red accents make the interior feel more sporty. The car will also get an automatic gearbox. But if you are looking for more interior upgrades, we have some tips for you.

The 2023 BMW M4 CSL is the closest production car to its competition-spec sibling. Its design is different from most special editions, which feature off-menu colours or fancy trim.

The interior is entirely carbon fiber, and the rear seats have been eliminated. Other notable changes include the new M4 CSL logo and the “BMW Laser” technology.

Track-Ready Demeanor

The track-ready demeanor of the BMW M4 CSL 2023 is a testament to its performance. The new M4 is a few millimeters closer to the ground than the standard M4. This is due to modified suspension settings.

This car rides on bespoke 19-inch forged wheels and wears Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires for added grip. The new M4 CSL embodies BMW’s intrinsic values.

The 2023 BMW M4 CSL model is a limited edition model with just 1,000 units produced worldwide. For $139,900 before destination, the BMW M4 CSL will be a steal for the money. A similar M4 Competition Coupe with an all-wheel-drive will start at just $74,900.
